Current Builders and the ACE Mentor Program

The ACE Mentor Program of South Florida helps high school students discover the wide range of career options available to them in architecture, construction and engineering.

In 2008, Current Builders lead the effort, as a founding board member, to form the ACE Mentor Program of South Florida affiliate, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization whose mission is to engage, excite and enlighten high school students in Broward, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach and Martin Counties to pursue careers in the integrated construction industry through mentoring; and to support their continued advancement in the industry through scholarships and grants.

The ACE Mentor Program of South Florida has created a partnership among industry professionals in this area - architects, interior designers, landscape architects, mechanical, structural, electrical, environmental and civil engineers, construction managers, college and university representatives, and other professionals from related corporations and professional organizations - who work together to attract young people to their professions.

During the program year, professionals from local building industry firms as well as high school and university educators meet weekly after school with teams of high school juniors and seniors to share experiences and expertise. Students visit construction sites, specialty training facilities and offices of industry professionals. They also work together in teams on projects reflecting real-world challenges.

Current Builders not only participates as founding board member, but also as ACE mentors at Plantation High School. They have been mentoring students since 2008 and have provided scholarship and internship opportunities.
